Leopard - Security Enhancement

All of the securities start from securing accounts.

These three ways hopefully can help you keep your information stored in your account secure. All of these settings are inside Apple → System Preferences → Accounts → Login Options ( the small house at the left-bottom corner of the pane ).

The Lock

All of the settings should be in gray color at the first time you stepped into Login Options Pane. To enable further changes in settings, you need to click on the lock located at left-bottom corner of the pane, enter your password and changes can already be made.

Automatic Login

This is the first setting inside the Login Options Pane. You should make sure you choose Automatic Login : Disabled instead of one of the usernames. This is intended to keep your account away from any unauthorized access.

Display Login Window As

The next setting is this option. Display list of users means that at the login window, all the users available will be listed down. This will help you to memorize your username. However, you still got the drawback, other people also can see your username and from that username, they probably can guess what will be your password. Therefore, it's better to keep your username as well as password unrevealed by choosing Display login window as Name and password.

Show Password Hints

If you've already used your password for a long time, I guess you won't need additional hints anymore then you should uncheck this. Besides that, other user also won't get a hint on what your password would probably be.
